Looking back on the PlayStation 4, some notable exclusives will stand out. One of those from that console generation was Insomniac Games Marvel’s Spider-Man. It was a new thrilling adventure that put players into the role of Peter Parker a few years after he became the iconic Spider-Man hero. Thanks to Spider-Man, New York City was kept safe, but the game threw players into one of Peter’s biggest challenging foes.
Since the game launched, we received a minor spin-off title with Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales. While the game was smaller in scope, it was still a hit for fans. During the past PlayStation Showcase stream this month, we were introduced to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Since then, we’ve been waiting on more information to pop up. Today we’re finding out the game will have a darker tone.
This news comes from Bill Rosemann, the creative head at Marvel. Speaking on the This Week In Marvel podcast, Bill Rosemann commented on the upcoming sequel. In his comparison, this installment is a bit like Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. It’s a darker tone, and we can expect multiple characters to pop back up from the past two installments. We’re not entirely sure just who will be popping back up, but this should spark some fans to go back and replay both Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales.
Fortunately, you have plenty of time to go back and enjoy those games either again or for the first time. The upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 installment is not set to hit the marketplace until sometime in 2023. This will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive, so hopefully, you’ll also have some ease in getting your hands on the console unit itself by then as well.
