EA has gone on record that Dragon Age has a huge opportunity as a franchise, but no game is slated to release this year.
EA CFO Blake Jorgensen spoke positively about the IP in the recent 2015 Technology, Internet & Media Conference. You can read his statement below.
Longer-term, we're very excited. BioWare, they just won Game of the Year at the DICE Awards. We're very excited about the success of that team and what we can do with that team. I think there's a huge opportunity for [sic] Dragon Age.
EA earlier revealed that the game had one of BioWare's most successful launches of all time, based on how it sold the most copies of BioWare's games upon release.
That no new Dragon Age games are coming out a year after Dragon Age Inquisition is probably more of a relief than a worry for the franchise's fans, who are undoubtedly wary of the effects of annualizing IPs like Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed to the quality of its games.
As we know, the next Mass Effect is in the horizon, and who knows? We may get a new Star Wars game from them yet in between the wait for a new Dragon Age.
What would you like to see next from BioWare? Would you be OK with an annualized Dragon Age? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
