Warner Bros Reveals New Collector’s Edition For Mortal Kombat X

February 3, 2015 by John Walton

Three versions of the upcoming Mortal Kombat X are now available for pre-order, or is that four?

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has today revealed the existence of a collector's edition set for the upcoming Mortal Kombat X, the latest installment in the popular gore-drenched beat 'em up series. Bestowed with the same casual disregard for the letter 'C' as the game itself, the "Kollector's Edition" is one of three (or perhaps four, technically) editions that have been announced by the publisher. All three are available now for pre-order. So, what will this Kollector's Edition entail exactly? According to the press release from Warner Bros.,

Exclusive Scorpion figurine and Certificate of Authenticity, designed by Coarse. Coarse has been recognized in Collector and Designer figure communities for their artistic approach, dedication to detail, and unique storytelling through sculpture.

In-game Gold Scorpion Skin, inspired by the Coarse figurine

The Kombat Pack, which includes access to four add-on playable characters from Klassic Kombatants to Iconic guest characters

This version of the game will retail for $149.99, but there's still plenty more options available if you're willing to part with an extra $30 more from your wallet.

In addition to the aforementioned set, there also appears to be a second "Kollector's Edition" imported from Europe and available exclusively for pre-order on Amazon.com. The contents for this edition seem to be very similar to the first, with the noticable omission of Coarse, listing instead a "Scorpion Statue".

Whether this is the same model or something entirely different remains to be seen, though good money would say it's most likely the latter. The previously mentioned 'Kombat Pack' is also included, along with the in-game 'gold Scorpion' skin.

Also included is the first volume of a comic series, titled Mortal Kombat X: Blood Ties as well as an exclusive steel pack and card. This edition has a recommended retail price of $179.99.

As well as this, there are two other editions available for pre-order for those not willing to part with too much cash. Mortal Kombat X: Premium Edition will be available via download only, presumably via the likes of the PlayStation Store or the Xbox Marketplace. This version seems to be a much more scaled down release, only offering the Kombat Pack as extra content.

The Premium Edition has an MSRP of $89.99

Finally, there is the Mortal Kombat X: Limited Edition, available as an exclusive from GameStop. It includes the same additions as the Premium Edition, except with the inclusion of an exclusive Scorpion character skin inspired by the Cold War and the result of a collaborative effort between NetherRealm Studios and a fan artist from MKKollective.com.

The Limited Edition will have a slightly higher retail price, marked at $94.99.

Mortal Kombat X will release worldwide on April 14th, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
