Apex 2015 is a big success, with all the tournaments an events ending mere hours ago.
Your Apex 2015 champions for Smash Wii U and Melee are ZeRo and EG_PPMD, playing Diddy Kong and Falco / Marth respectively. For doubles, Melee champs were Mew2King playing Sheik and Hungrybox playing Jigglypuff. On Smash Wii U, champ were Mew2King and Zero, both playing Diddy Kong.
Apex was almost cancelled after their venue was declared a safety hazard on the first scheduled day of tournaments. However, the community was able to rally together to move the whole tournament to a new venue, and get most major events and activities going for the past two days.

As these fans were able to verify, Apex took the top spot on Twitch streams in the last few hours as well, overtaking League of Legends and DOTA 2. For further context, the Smash Melee stream from last year’s EVO reached 135,000 views.
Nintendo was, of course, also a sponsor for Apex, and aside from the presence of the Nintendo Treehouse’s JC Rodrigo, they also arranged for fans to get a chance to try out Splatoon. As a community event, Apex also had side tournaments for Smash 64 and Brawl, and several non-Nintendo FGC tournaments, including Ultra Street Fighter 4, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Guilty Gear Xrd SiGN, and Killer Instinct.
