Kingdom Hearts 3: Cable Town Art Concept Suggests Core Flowmotion Mechanic

February 1, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Flowmotion may be the first thing you need to learn in the game.

This is a speculative video regarding Cable Town in Kingdom Hearts 3. This video comes to us thanks to YouTuber TheGamersJoint, whom you can subscribe to here.

A fan named Tophatting made this concept art for Cable Town, the presumed base of operations for the new game. His idea for the place is a floating set of islands, tethered to the ground by a huge series of chains.

So, you may be wondering, what's the deal with the chains? The answer lies in Flowmotion.

Flowmotion is  parkour like movement system, introduced in Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance on the 3DS. By dodge rolling or air sliding onto an interactive object, you can get Flowmotion started to get Sora or Riku jumping on walls, grinding rails, sliding down poles, etc. The action they take is dependent on the context of what environment they make contact with next. From Flowmotion, players can activate a speed boost, a super jump, or a Flowmotion attack.

Tophatting speculates that players will traverse Cable Town using Flowmotion, meaning it is one of the first things you will need to learn, and it will be one of the basic motions in the game.

How do you feel about this concept? Share your thoughts with us in the comments. Kingdom Hearts 3 is in development for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
