GamingBolt reports a new release date has been listed for BioWare's Mass Effect 4 on Amazon France, which states the game is coming out in 2020.
This is clearly a placeholder and we should expect to get our hands on the RPG far sooner than that. 2014 saw several key releases launched in a state many consider unfinished, and while a studio taking its time isn't a bad thing, 2020 would be eight years after Mass Effect 3 came out.
BioWare developers seem to be of the opinion that progress is coming along well, so it's likely we're looking at a release this year or in 2016.
Not much is known about the game, save for the fact that it won't be called Mass Effect 4 and Commander Shepard, the protagonist of the original trilogy, will not be the player character this time round. While the game won't revolve around Shepard's fight against the Reapers, some characters from those games may appear. Based on images previously released from the game, the character will however be a N7 operative, the same rank as Shepard in the human Alliance military.
Past Mass Effect games have had an interactive comic to allow players to make decisions based on their actions or the option to import a save directly but given that the game is likely headed to PS4 and Xbox One (in addition to PC), a Dragon Age Keep-style workaround seems more likely.
