Saints Row fans were treated to a big reboot unveiling during the Gamescom Opening Night Live stream. With Volition having a chance to bring this IP back out, fans have been hesitant over this installment so far. Instead of jumping into the hype, we’ve seen criticisms from fans. So, for now, the developers are pressing on with the development of this reboot.
Today we’re finding a new blog post from the development team over at Volition. During the post, it was noted that players could expect a fully untethered co-op experience. Fortunately, it looks like the co-op experience won’t matter on what platforms you’re playing on. Additionally, it looks like there will be cross-gen co-op support. Again, it doesn’t matter what platform you’re on. Players can connect and enjoy the game seamlessly through drop-in and drop-out co-op.
“I’m delighted to re-confirm there will be seamless co-op on offer for the full game and that this is all Cross-Gen. So whether playing on the newest, or more seasoned gaming hardware, you can enjoy the freedom of playing the entire campaign with a friend through seamless untethered drop-in/drop-out co-op. No getting stuck waiting around in lobbies, we always put gameplay first.”
That’s great news to hear if you’re a fan of this franchise and are eager to try out the reboot. Unfortunately, right now, we’re dealing with massive shortages across the board for gaming consoles. Because of the worldwide chip shortages, we’re finding the lack of PlayStation 5 along with Xbox Series X/S consoles readily available for purchase. So instead, the consoles are quickly being bought up and flipped online through different resellers. Ultimately, that makes it extremely difficult for players to find a unit at MSRP.
So having options to play with friends regardless of generation and platform is rather nice. We know that there are more co-op surprises that Volition has in store for players. In the meantime, fans can expect Saints Row to arrive on February 25, 2022, for the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
