Saints Row Reboot Developers Fire Back Against Criticisms

August 27, 2021 by Dennis Patrick

The Saints Row franchise is something fans have been following for years. However, as of late, the IP had become a bit dormant. Before the Gamescom Opening Night Live event, it was teased that the IP would be making an appearance but as a reboot. This had fans excited, and when the event happened, excitement turned into disappointment. Many fans are writing this game off already, but that won’t stop the developers from pushing forward.

Rather than rebooting the video game with familiar characters and settings, development studio Volition is going with a clean slate. We’re going to have a new set of characters, locations, and it looks like less wacky gameplay. Saints Row, as of late, had scaled up the wacky style of gameplay. Instead, this is a new take on the franchise, which again didn’t settle all that well with fans. Still, the developer’s Volition is not backing down, according to Twitter.

We are not backing down on this game. We get it, it’s new and it’s a shock reaction to a reboot like no other. The gif was supposed to convey that.

After the trailer reveals, fans took to Twitter and expressed their disappointment with the game. It’s left fans feeling like the IP is going in a drastically different direction. However, Saints Row developers, Volition, had expressed that this trailer would get a shock reaction. Likewise, this reboot would be like no other. However, they are not backing down on this game. We’re going to see this game move on through development regardless of the initial reaction by fans.

Saints Row’s reboot only has one trailer released so far, and we don’t have any gameplay footage to go by yet. As a result, this game should have plenty of marketing materials uploaded before it hits the marketplace next year. With that said, we do know that Saints Row is releasing on February 25, 2022. Players can expect PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
