There's a new crowdfund up on IndieGogo that seeks to introduce a new way of playing the god game. Live now on Forever Funding is Crest.
Crest differentiates itself from other god games in the way you interact with your followers. For this game, you give your followers commandments, which can be interpreted as simple directions, or even coding loops.
Adding a wrench into the works is a bit of randomness, as your followers will not always follow your commandments to the letter. They will have attributes that could lead them to forget, or even misinterpret, your commandments. Of course, they can also turn on you.
Crest is the work of Swedish four person developer Eat Create Sleep, who fittingly enough, themselves are based in Gotland, an island in the Baltic Sea. Funding this project carries few risks, as the studio has prior experience making games, and have not only secured the minimum required to make the game, but have also secured further funding from the state and a private investor.
However, Eat Create Sleep has opted to go to Flexible Funding to expand the scope of their game further. The $ 20,000 they have is the bare minimum needed to make the game and support the team's needs. The team still has no plans to bring the game to dedicated game consoles, or localize to anything other than the English speaking market.
Does this game interest you? You have until March to slackback the game on Indiegogo, at which point the game will be on its early access phase (not necessarily on Steam). Check out the game pitch below and help fund the game here.
