Yes, Virginia, There Is Solo Mode For Evolve

December 19, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Solo mode is designed about multiplayer, and surprisingly, this opens up new opportunities.

Yes, Evolve fans, Turtle Rock Studios has added offline mode to the game.

Turtle Rock Studios did not make any elaborate adjustments for Evolve’s single player mode. In fact, instead of making a separate single player story campaign, they have simply added bots to play the hunters to go with or against you. As a result, they were able to focus on making one solid storyline for all modes, that you can enjoy alone or with friends.

Some players may even prefer to play solo thanks to the new features it opens up. For example, you can pick out specific bot opponents, and control the missions you play in Evacuation. More impressive than that, however, is switching bots.

Case in point, assuming you’re playing the Hunter side, pressing the D-pad allows you to switch between each Hunter at the drop of a hat. Therefore, you can execute on strategies seamlessly, with each Hunter not only controlled, but coordinated by you. Set up the traps, press a forward assault, and then move to either support or medic to bolster your assault.

Turtle Rock recommends you play Evacuation if you are playing solo, but they hadn’t mentioned if you can also switch between monsters in modes where there is more than one monster in the field.

What would you like to see Turtle Rock execute in Solo Mode? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.

Evolve will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows on February 10, 2015.
