After over a year of development and the Kickstarter that started it all, Satellite Reign has been delivered, on time to boot. The game is in prealpha state, but has been published on Steam via Early Access.
Satellite Reign is billed as a spiritual successor to Syndicate, and is itself being developed by 5 Lives Studios. 5 Lives happens to be headed by Mike Diskett, creator of another spiritual successor, Syndicate Wars. It is a real time strategy game putting you in charge of four agents exploring a living isometric cyberpunk city.
5 Lives are iterating on their promise of emergent gameplay, allowing you to come up with scenarios and strategies on your own, such that you can even create something the devs would not have expected.
It's not too late to jump in and help development, of course, and 5 Lives have given you flexibility on backer/purchase options. You can purchase Early Access directly on the Steam page, or, if you're so inclined, get there via Humble Store. The Humble Store option also gives you access to the DRM free version of the game in the future, and allows for more payment options, such as Paypal.
