Despite fears that it's been shelved, the saga of The Last Guardian continues. Canceled? That's a laugh! No, the spiritual sequel to Ico and Shadow of the Colossus is still very much alive — and if we read into recent comments, it may now be a PlayStation 4 game.
Through Kotaku, we've learned that Dengeki PlayStation has asked several developers about their experiences with PlayStation. The Last Guardian director Fumito Ueda mentioned that he's been hard at work at the oft-delayed title throughout 2014:
Talks with Sony Computer Entertainment on The Last Guardian have been ironed out, and we're making progress under completely new conditions.
What could those "new conditions" be? It's possible he's referencing a shift towards PS4 development. He may not be, of course, but if Team Ico is working so long and hard on the game, it likely follows that Sony has high hopes for it. That means Sony probably considers it a showcase title, which deserves to be on the latest and greatest Sony platform.
I guess we'll see in due time.
