Tekken 7 Gets New Character Added to Cast

December 8, 2014 by Jacob Saylor

Lucky Chloe is coming for you.

If you're not familiar with the Tekken series, then you should know that it's one of the premiere fighting games in this industry. It stands next to Street Fighter and Soul Calibur as the gaming's elite fighting force. While there have been many other fighting games that have tried to topple these big three, none of them have found the same success. Tekken first rose to prominence in arcades around the world, and due to expanding technology, gamers have been able to enjoy Tekken in their homes for some time now.

Tekken 7 is due out in February of next year, which means big things for the games industry. There hasn't been a fighting game published on the Playstation 4 or Xbox One yet. While Soul Calibur and Street Fighter will both bring their own nuances to the genre, this will be a strong indicator of how much success fighting games are poised to have on the new consoles. Soul Calibur's popularity has tapered off a bit, Street Fighter has gotten more popular, and Tekken has remained at about the same level of hype. This could be a real opportunity for Bandai Namco Games – who both develops and publishes the title – to take pole position in the veritable fighting game race.

A new character has been announced for Tekken 7 that completely fits the series' penchant for strange and outrageous character design. Her name is 'Lucky Chloe,' and she's got some breakdancing skills that she's adapted for fighting. In a gameplay video, which we've provided below, you can see her in action. While you'd might expect a fighter with breakdancing skills to feature a more kick-based attack, Lucky Chloe appears to favor punches. This is an interesting dynamic for the character, and she should prove to be a solid addition to the Tekken cast.
