Alien: Isolation did a really swell job of adapting content from the very popular Alien franchise of movies. While many video games fail to capture the nuances of movies, Isolation is a true Alien experience. You're not the highest on the food chain, and the game lets you feel that from the start.
Apart from the game's main storyline, there's also a great deal of side content available as well. This comes mainly in the form of Isolation's 'Survivor' mode, which sets some very specific objectives for players. If that wasn't hard enough, you've also got to deal with diminishing point values for the completion of these objectives. The longer it takes you to complete each task, the less points you will get.
If all of this wasn't enough to keep you entertained, prepare to be gratified. A new downloadable content package came out just today, which features new maps for the game's Survivor mode. You'll get to play as Dr. Lingard, a medical officer aboard the ship. Lingard's story is described as:
"Racked with guilt and feeling responsible for bringing the creature on board, she holds herself liable for the death and destruction that ravages the station as the Alien is unleashed."
"Wanting to ensure that her research on the creature can never fall into the wrong hands, Lingard sets out to destroy all the data and do as much as she can to help the remaining survivors."
The DLC package is entitled 'Trauma,' and brings three new maps to the game's Survivor mode.
If you haven't picked up Isolation yet, now is the perfect time to do so. The content is plentiful and you can probably find a copy well below the MSRP.
