Update: The screenshots were taken during different times of day in the game, which affects global illumination. As such, the new patch for Assassin's Creed Unity did not remove global illumination as previously reported.
A new rumor going around claims that the latest patch for Assassin’s Creed Unity downgrades the game’s graphics for the PlayStation 4.
These pictures show the game losing global illumination effects, causing a drastic dip in graphic quality. The difference between the two is unmistakable, as many previously lit areas now seem dimmer without reflected light. If these were real pictures, the rooms shown here appear to be not well lit at all, with dimmed lighting thoughtout.
Checking back the notes for the 3rd patch, with did hit the PlayStation 4 first, there is no mention of any changes to global illumination. Considering Ubi promised only graphical improvements, this may be another bug created by trying to push fixes to other things.
Take these pics with a grain of salt for now, but be forewarned if you hadn’t bought the game yet and were somehow on the fence. It may take some more time before Ubisoft patches most, if not all, of the game’s issues out.
