There are many of you who are probably familiar with the name Ghost in the Shell, but for those of you who aren't, I'll do my best to enlighten. Ghost in the Shell is an anime that takes place over a number of different incarnations, but all involving a police force of some sort. Motoko Kusanagi is the game's main protagonist.
As a child, Kusanagi suffered an accident that forced her brain to be infused into a cyborg body. This makes her a pretty important asset for the series' police force, as the cyborg body gives her a number of metahuman abilities – she can even turn invisible. While all of this might sound terribly complex, there's not much more you need to understand. You're just following along int he adventures of Kusanagi and her squad(s).
A new trailer released yesterday came with the announcement of Ghost in the Shell Online: First Connection. We've known for a while now that we'd be getting a Ghost in the Shell title sometime in 2015, but many of its more nuanced details have been hidden away from prying eyes. We now know that First Connection will be a multiplayer shooter, which means that it won't have to draw too heavily from its anime-based lore.
We're not sure how we feel about this revelation, given that Ghost in the Shell is so popular because of its strong storyline. Sure, there's a good deal of fan service in the show, but it's not enough to take away from the plot.
Check out the announcement trailer below, which features some pretty hilarious censors:
