Far Cry 4 Map Editor will Not Initially Support Competitive Multiplayer

November 14, 2014 by Jacob Saylor

Far Cry 4 will be missing an important feature upon its release.

Fans of the Far Cry series will be sad to know that one of their favorite features will be missing from Far Cry 4 upon its release: competitive multiplayer in custom maps. While this might sound like a niche feature of the game, it's actually very important, as it keeps multiplayer fun and interesting after players have learned the other maps and all of their different nuances.

However, game director Alex Hutchinson has spoken on the subject, relaying information that gives some hope to the idea of this feature being implemented post-release:

"I direct the game but I don't set budgets or timelines," Hutchinson explained via Twitter. "We always squeeze in as much as we can, but we're always prioritising.

"We're going to keep supporting the game so hopefully we can get it done post release. No promises but we will try."

Considering the tight development schedule over at Ubisoft, we're not sure that the team will have enough time to focus on anything but downloadable content or their next game. Here's to hoping they find the budget and time to pursue this very important feature of Far Cry 4.

Far Cry 4's Map Editor will alow players to create custom levels for four mission types:

  1. Assault – Destroy all your enemies
  2. Hunt – Kill all animals
  3. Outpost – Capture a designated point
  4. Extraction – Survive as you travel from one place to another

Look for Far Cry 4 on November 17, available on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.
