Destiny is set up for its next major update. Bungie has confirmed they are bringing voice chat to matchmaking, as well as an improved Iron Banner.
Voice chat will be on beta as early as Monday next week, and it offers a lot of customization. You can have it activate automatically, or toggle it on or off with each session. You can also choose to switch between public chat and fireteam chat anytime. Bungie is bringing the feature to Strikes, but it remains to be seen if it will appear in PvP or other content.
Iron Banner has no set ETA, but might be back as early as next week. Bungie will let fans know a day in advance. It also comes with a host of changes, as outlined below:
· Fireteam leaders need to be at least Level 20.
· Players below 20 can accompany higher ranked friends.
· Players can compete with each other if they are at most three levels apart.
· Defense and attack ratings affect how well you take and strike damage. A well equipped low level player can be a danger to higher ranked players.
· Previous Iron Banner ranks have been retained.
· Lord Saladin has five ranks.
· Tempered boosts reputation for 12 hours.
· You can activate Tempered later in an event to catch up faster.
· Exclusive Iron Banner rewards are earned by increasing rank.
· You can reset progression, and earn new perks, by reforging weapons.
· Gauntlets and boots help level you up.
· Only winners get reputation gains, with partial gains earned instantly as you win.
· If you lose, you get a token you can redeem after winning a match next time.
· You can have five Iron Medallions at one time.
· When Iron Banner ends, you reputation resets.
· As a result, every new event gives you a chance to make your name.
