Fortnite is an iconic battle royale title that has still found plenty of fans jumping into the IP regularly. While the success of this game has allowed Epic Games to create a plethora of crossover events, it’s pretty blatant this latest update takes influence from Among Us. Recently, it was rumored that the two would have a crossover event, and while the collab had hype, InnerSloth denied the rumors. Now it looks like the community director for InnerSloth is a bit disappointed over Epic Games’ latest move.
I’m sure you’re aware by now that Fortnite has a game mode similar to Among Us. There’s even the same terminology within the two games. However, you won’t find any direct connection to the Among Us IP. That’s the only thing missing here, and Victoria Tran took to Twitter and expressed her opinions. For those unaware, Victoria Tran is the community director for InnerSloth, the developers behind Among Us. Without specifically calling out Fortnite, Victoria expressed that a collab would have been cool.
However, she does go on to say that the game mechanics are fine. In her eyes, this is not something that should be gatekept. With that said, there are still the same themes and terminology. At the very least, Epic Games could have switched things up if they were not interested in a collab. We’re not sure why the collaboration didn’t happen, but it’s clear where Fortnite received its influences from. Likewise, with the company getting collaborations across prominent entertainment mediums, it’s odd not to show some love towards this indie hit.
Still, this doesn’t hurt Among Us. The developers are still pressing on with new thrilling content. We know that they have a big update in the works. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen any details on the upcoming update just yet. Likewise, the studio did note that there is merchandise coming out for fans who want to get some physical Among Us goodies.
