Tekken 7’s Latest Trailer Put Spotlight On New Fighters, System Mechanics

November 12, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

It also gives us our first good look at Tekken on Unreal Engine 4, and it definitely looks different than games on their proprietary engine.

Bandai Namco have shared a new trailer for Tekken 7, giving fans a better look at the game's new look, characters, and system mechanics.

Word spread on the web about these new additions from the initial loke tests. While a lot of what’s shown here has been explained before, it really does make a difference to see it up close and personal.

The game is Tekken Team’s first transition from their own proprietary engine to Unreal Engine 4, and longtime fans can tell you it definitely looks different. Bearing in mind that this trailer and footage is not reflective of the final product, character details, lighting, particle effects, and backgrounds look different than they did in previous games, and reflect how Unreal is simply different from Team Tekken’s engine. It almost seems like a different developer took over the game.

If the game looks slightly different, the characters, gameplay, and overall aesthetic are still typically Tekken, with the fast paced, impactful gameplay the series is known for, and animations showing off everyone still acts and plays like they did in previous games.

We also get a better look at Claudio Serafino and Katarina Alves, the two new characters. In the mold of classic Tekken characters, the pair employ different fighting styles, have distinct personalities, and mix up their moves with stylish and unreal particle effect moves.

Finally, the trailer shows off the Power Crush and Rage Arts mechanics, which still seem reminiscent of other games, as well as the extensive customization options that players can use even in the arcades, assuming they get Banapassport cards.
