A set of Halo 5: Guardians gameplay videos leaked, revealing three key gameplay mechanics that are coming to the game when it releases for the Xbox One late 2015.
Scoping has been retooled. In previous games, it was tied up with hip fire in such a way that it has no effect on mobility. Now, it uses an ADS system similar to Call of Duty and Battlefield.
Perhaps to complement this, descoping returns as well. Descoping allows players to knock out people who use scopes out of their zoom. The system allows them to balance snipers out.
Finally, there is a sprint mechanic, which will give players a short burst of speed.
343 Studios’ Josh Holmes assured fans that flinching will not be present in Halo 5. Subsequently, there will be no penalties for hip fire, and for moving while scoping. While the full details have yet to be revealed, it seems that 343 is going for parity among shooter conventions, but without the penalties the systems of other games have set up.
How do you feel about the reveal of these new mechanics? How do you hope 343 Industries brings all of this together in Halo 5? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
