Blizzard has shared a trailer for the third standalone episode of StarCraft 2, Legacy of the Void, and also revealed sweeping changes to multiplayer coming with the episode.
The trailer hints at a coming end times, that both the Protoss and Zerg dread but inescapably face. All of the story’s main players, feature prominently in the trailer, including Hierarch Artanis, Rohana, Zeratul, Kerrigan, and Jim Raynor.
Most of what’s cool about Episode Three, however, comes to multiplayer, and is sure to make Korea’s eSports community take notice. There will be automated daily tournaments, a new coop mode called Allied Commanders, and most radically, Archon Mode.
Allied Commanders is open ended, but objective based traditional coop. Archon Mode, however, allows two players to take charge of a single base, taking on two enemy forces.
Best of all, at the fundamental level, each race gets new units and buffs for the ones that already exist. Terrans get a Cyclone, the Protoss get a Disruptor, the Zerg get a Ravager, and the Lurker is back.
