Blizzard has revealed the details of Diablo 3’s Patch 2.1.2 in the recent Blizzcon event.
First off, Greater Rifts are getting a rebalance again. The overall experience has been improved. However, randomization affects how quickly you get through these rifts too strongly.
For example, whether conduit pylons appear or not make the difference between easy or difficult play using other pylons. Blizzard’s solution is not to nerf the conduit pylons, but to power up the shield and speed pylons accordingly.
Other changes coming to the Rifts are better monster density distribution, adjustments to death penalties, and removing dead ends.
Three types of Treasure Goblins are being added in. The Gem Hoarder drops gems. The Blood Thief drops Blood Shards. The Odius Collector drops craft materials, as well as plans.
Finally, there will be a new batch of Ancient Items to be added in, as well as more Legendary Gems. The Ancient Items themselves are Legendary Items powered up 30 %.
Blizzard also revealed plans past that time, including a new zone called the Ruins of Sescheron. Just don’t expect an Auction House or any item trading system to reappear anytime soon.
