Elite Dangerous Lifts Off From Mid-December on PC

November 7, 2014 by Stephen Daly

The Mac version will be released at a later date.

Frontier Developments has announced that their MMO space sim Elite Dangerous will be released for PC on December 16th, and will come to Mac in 2015.

If you buy the game you will be able to play on both PC and Mac when that version is eventually released, and can switch between the two using cloud saves.

The game is currently in beta, and you can still sign-up to play right now for another 15 days for £15. Those who do  will be automatically upgraded to the Mercenary Pack when the final game launches. The Mercenary Pack includes "an additional Eagle fighter, ship liveries, Day One decal and other digital goodies."

Earlier this week, Frontier Developments released a mini-documentary looking at the making of the game.

Elite Dangerous Mercenary Edition, including the full game and Mercenary Pack, is available for pre-order now and costs £35/€40/$50. If you don't pre-order, the game will cost £40/€50/$60.
