Code Name S.T.E.A.M. Gets New Trailer

November 5, 2014 by Tony Ponce

Abraham Lincoln recruits a team of heroes from famous literature.

With Splatoon serving as Nintendo's new home console IP, we turn to the new IP coming to 3DS: Code Name S.T.E.A.M. Developed by Intelligent Systems, best known for the Fire Emblem and Paper Mario games, S.T.E.A.M. is another turn-based RPG, only this one adopts a Western comic book style and takes place in steampunk 19th century London.

We knew back during E3 that our heroes in this adventure are being led by Abraham Lincoln, but now that we know some of the characters you'll get to control, this is turning out to be the videogame version of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. All the revealed heroes are pulled straight out of famous literature: Henry Fleming comes from The Red Badge of Courage, Lion from The Wizard of Oz, Tiger Lily from Peter Pan, and Tom Sawyer from The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Sawyer, coincidentally, was in the film version of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, making the parallels all the more apparent.

Code Name S.T.E.A.M. will arrive for 3DS sometime in 2015.
