Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare released just a couple of days ago to a mostly positive response. While the title isn't necessarily groundbreaking, it does bring the same Call of Duty feel that we've come to know and love. However, as it turns out, Advanced Warfare may be suffering from the same broken promises as Destiny. We reported back in October that Sledgehammer Games, who develops Advanced Warfare, was promising dedicated servers for this iteration into the Call of Duty franchise. Maybe they just didn't think anyone would pay attention, but the services currently being provided to gamers are less than stellar.
Though it's a bit tasteless, this is what one redditor's feelings on the subject were:
We're not experts on matchmaking technology here at Gameranx, but we'd say that a ping of 800 ms is pretty unacceptable. While some of this is certainly going to be coming from the user end of things, dedicated servers are meant to fix huge failings like this. We're not saying Sledgehammer Games has outright lied to us, but we're wondering if their technology was correctly implemented or up to the task. When you make the promise of dedicated servers, generally the results are in line with what is promised. Maybe the game is still dealing with the huge influx of players that are always present during the first week or so of release? I don't know – I just hope that this isn't a persistent problem for Advanced Warfare.
