The upcoming high-definition release of Grand Theft Auto 5 is set to make use of features unique to the PlayStation 4’s DualShock 4 controller.
The DualShock 4 controller offers a few features that are otherwise unavailable to the Xbox 360 controller, including a built-in speaker, a touch pad, and a light bar. Rockstar Games has announced that it plans to use all of these features with the PS4 version of the game, which is set for release simultaneously with the Xbox One version.
According to Gizmodo, which got to spend some hands-on time with the game, players will be able to hear police radio chatter as well as phone calls through the DualShock 4 controller’s speakers.
The light bar will also flash red and blue when you have a wanted level. Swiping up or down on the touch pad will allow you to swap your weapons, while swiping left or right changes the radio stations.
This, in addition to the game’s first-person mode, will make the game worth picking up again on the PS4 for players who already own it on the PS3. Players who already own the game on the PS3 or Xbox 360 will also receive some special incentives for picking it up.
The game is out on November 18 for the PS4 and Xbox One. The PC version of the game is coming in January 2015.
