Bungie Talks about Improving Iron Banner Event in Destiny

October 27, 2014 by Jacob Saylor

Destiny will see an improved Iron Banner next time.

Destiny has been out for some time now. The title has garnered a lot of attention, with large portions being negative. Destiny has been slammed for being repetitive and bothersome, though there are just as many people who would argue otherwise. It is this dynamic that has created such a weird spot in which Destiny sits, as nobody is sure what the real verdict is on the game. One thing we know for sure is that if there continues to be such controversy surrounding the game, it will continue to be talked about. If it continunes being talked about, then it is very unlikely anyone will stop playing it. This will give Bungie Studios, who develops the game, more time to fix any smaller issues that plague the game.

Bungie is looking to do just that during its next 'Iron Banner' PvP event. It was apparent that the event was 'not working as intended' the first time around, but we would like to think that it was just a one time problem. The main issue that gamers had with the Iron Banner was that level 4 players were just as strong as those who had put in the time and effort to reach level 30. The whole point of the Iron Banner was to create a divide between stronger and weaker players, giving those with the better gear a chance to duke it out. In an interview with CVG, Lead Designer at Bungie, Tyson Green explained: "In the next Iron Banner, we will debut a much more dramatic difference between players of wide variation in Level. We will detail the changes in an article of its own to come as soon as we settle on some of the numbers."

Green also noted that the upcoming changes to the Banner would address the following issues:

  • Incentives to stop quitting

  • Armor and weapons

  • Bounties

  • New Feature: Reforging

  • New Feature: Tempered

  • Iron Banner Reputation Reset
