GOGcom is giving away Aliens Vs Predator Classic 2000 as part of the GOG Galaxy beta.
GOG Galaxy is GOGcom's upcoming game client. Their client will be DRM-free, and enable users to easily download and upgrade their games, as well as finally enable online multiplayer.
To help test out the client's multiplayer features, GOGcom will be using Aliens Vs Predator. To be specific, this is not the Capcom beat em up for arcade, or the Rebellion shooter made for the Atari Jaguar. While it shares the same scenario and ideas as the Jaguar game, Rebellion made enough changes to make this a substantially different game.
The biggest change in the 1999 release of Aliens Vs Predator for Windows and Mac was the inclusion of multiplayer. The game was critically well received in its initial release, the same year that Counter-Strike and System Shock 2 were released.
In 2010, Rebellion rereleased the game under its current name, adding all the expansions, Xbox 360 controller compatibility, and support for modern computers, across Windows, Linux and Mac.
To get the game free and join the beta, you need only share your email here before October 17, at 9:59AM GMT.
