Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Glitches: Floating Cages, Headless Orcs, and More

October 13, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor has its share of bugs and glitches. Thankfully, they don’t hurt the game.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor has been out for more than a week now and with its release, players have been posting videos of the bugs and glitches that they’ve encountered during their time with the Monolith-developed game.

In this article, we’ve compiled a number of videos to showcase the hilarious bugs and glitches that Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor seems to “feature” in its present state. We have no doubt that many of these glitches will be addressed in future updates, but even if they aren’t, the game’s still highly playable—as we describe in our review of the title.

While not a major issue, one of the things that stands out about some of the enemies in the game is their unintelligent AI, which seems to have difficulty navigating beyond walls and ceilings. No more is it evident in the video above, where the player and his friend spend two minutes fooling around with an archer.

The glitch above is particularly helpful if you’re trying to accomplish the side-quests that require you to harvest certain types of plants in the game. Simply retry the mission over and over until you get the plants you need to harvest.

Monsters occasionally walk in the air. Regardless of the fact that the game’s universe features magical flying creatures, they’re really not supposed to do that.

This particular bug occurs when your caragor dies while you’re riding it.

The glitch above is not an easy bug to replicate, but it’s one that causes the game’s ground textures to turn into a disco dance floor.

This monster was hit so hard that its body got trapped in the metal grate.

It’s possible to fall through the world and suddenly find yourself in mid air, as the video above illustrates.

This monster’s lost its head.

Running the game with certain stereoscopic 3D settings enabled causes this bug to occur.

This floating cage makes me wonder what the game would be like if it had dream sequences.
