It appears that Sony has placed a lot of stock in the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto 5. While these games might strike some as a bit egregious, given that they are re-releases, we think there's some merit to them. GTA 5 was hands-down the biggest game release of last generation, and Sony made a note of that. Just yesterday we wrote that the PS4 version of the game would offer an extra $300,000 in GTA Online for those gamers who preordered the title.
Today, it's been reported that the remake will be packaged with the Playstation 4 in limited edition bundle, which will launch alongside the game on November 18, 2014 in Europe. Sony knows how to make allies, and it shows in moments like this. The argument could be made that Sony should be looking forward rather than backward. That argument wouldn't be wrong, as there's a real chance for Sony to cement their lead for the rest of this console generation. However, it's very possible that this revamped version of GTA 5 will move more consoles than anything Sony currently has up its sleeve.
The only other title that could rival it is Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, which won't even hit store shelves until an undisclosed time in 2015. Although, information came out earlier today that indicates we may be getting a more specific release date for Uncharted 4 soon.
What do you think? Is Sony making a good move by placing so much value in these remakes, or would they be better served by pursuing other projects?
