Not too long ago, we posted a new trailer for The Evil Within, which offered players a look at some of the survival tactics used to make it out alive in the upcoming game. Some time has passed and more information has become available that will further change the way you play. However, this change doesn't directly affect The Evil Within's gameplay. Instead, it gives users more ways to adjust the technical side of things.
The Evil Within will feature 30 frames per second as a standard. However, instead of being locked in at this speed like many others games, you'll have the ability to stress your gaming rig to try and squeeze up to 60 FPS out. We're not sure why you would want to, but there's also the option of lowering the game's FPS. Bear in mind that these features will only be available to gamers who purchase The Evil Within on PC. The console versions of this game will likely be locked in at around 30 FPS, with graphics to match.
While these various graphics options are not as rare among PC games, we're still glad to see developers stepping outside the box and offering ways for gamers to alter their own, individual experience. The title releases on October 14 later this year in North America. There are pre-load options available, so if you're interested in The Evil Within, go ahead and get your affairs sorted. Though, this feature is not offered to Xbox 360 players.
Here's a listing of pre-load dates:
- Steam — Available for pre-load on October 10th. (We will update when it's live)
- PlayStation 3 & 4 — Currently slated for Pre-load on Sunday, October 12th. (We will update when it's live)
- Xbox One — Already available for preload with your purchase of the game.
- Xbox 360 — Pre-loading is not available, however, you will be able to purchase digitally on day 1.
