Konami has announced that Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes will be released on Steam from December 18th.
The publisher commented that the PC version of the game "will be 4K compatible and will feature an increase in the number of simultaneous light sources, the number of models that can be displayed on-screen and increased shadow resolution."
News of the PC version follows reports from Russia last week, when the country's game media reported that Hideo Kojima himself announced that Ground Zeroes was coming to PC in December during a Moscow press event.
Kojima first expressed interest in a PC version in March of this year, when he stated:
"PC, that's my original background. I originally created PC games. A long time ago I didn't want to rely on platforms to release games, so if people want it, I cannot make a formal announcement, but that is definitely something that I would like to do."
Ground Zeroes was released for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One earlier this year and presumably this announcement means Metal Gear Solid 5's other chapter, The Phantom Pain, will also see a PC release though whether this will occur at the same time as the console launch remains to be seen.
