Given the recent news that Tetsuya Nomura would be stepping down as director on Final Fantasy XV, there was no doubt that he'd be making waves in the industry soon. Though, he seems to have been able to keep himself in the headlines with Kingdom Hearts 3 and the "burning anger" he has put into developing the title. Five points to whoever gets that reference without clicking the link. We love you, Tetsuya Nomura.
At any rate, Nomura is currently scheduled to arrive in New York this weekend for apperances at the New York Comic Con. He'll be located at the Square Enix merchandise booth from October 10-11. While it's indicated that Nomura will mostly be there to sign autographs and take pictures, we think something a bit more interesting might be in the works. This is all speculation, but bear with us.
On October 3, just a few days ago, a new Final Fantasy trademark was filed in Europe. Given the fact that Nomura works mostly in a creative sense, it's very possible that there wasn't much left for him to do on Final Fantasy XV. This could mean that Square Enix wants to allocate one of their most useful resources to another project, which could be this unannounced project. All that said, it's also a possibility that Nomura just wants to dedicate more of his time to Kingdom Hearts 3, which is very much a passion project for him.
