The latest update to the original Resident Evil, titled Resident Evil HD Remastered, is hitting just about every modern platform save for Wii U. The omission is especially conspicuous considering that the remaster is based on the remake that came to GameCube in 2002 and was later ported to Wii in 2009. So what are Nintendo owners missing out on? That's what IGN is about to demonstrate!
IGN has placed the PlayStation 4 version next to the GameCube version to highlight what has improved and what has stayed the same. The first noticeable change is that cutscenes are zoomed in on the HD build in order to fit the picture on widescreen displays. During actual gameplay, the HD version obviously has sharper lines and cleaner textures. We also see how players can choose to play in the original 4:3 mode or give a 16:9 view a shot.
Resident Evil HD Remastered arrives in early 2015 not just for PS4 but also for PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Windows.
