Nintendo quietly released a system update yesterday for the Wii U. Firmware version 5.2.0 U introduces a feature that the 3DS has had since April 2012: folders! By highlighting an empty block on the Wii U menu, you'll have the option to create and name a folder as well as change the color of its icon. Each folder has four pages of available space, plenty for frequent downloaders to organize their myriad digital software however they see fit.
Other minor additions include a Download Management icon available at the bottom of the main menu, the option to hide certain icons from appearing in the Quick Start menu, and the disabling of certain characters (O, I, Z, etc.) that aren't used when redeeming eShop cards. Nothing as earth-shattering as, say, folders!
The last major Wii U firmware update was back in July, which finally allowed users to transfer their data between Wii Us. The month prior, we gained the Quick Start menu, which appears on the GamePad before the Wii U fully turns on and allows you to load recently used software while bypassing the home menu.
