This week, Sakurai confirmed that he would continue to post pictures for Super Smash Bros after its 3DS release, at least until the Wii U version comes out. He wants to go back to his original intent sharing a pic of the day; entertaining fans with quirky, amusing screenshots.
On Tuesday, Sakurai unveiled Conquest Mode, which is already playable in Japan. Conquest Mode collects the wins teams earn worldwide in a set period of time and figures out who is the champion. To join, all you need to do is pick one of the included fighters and choose With Anyone. Of course, the algorithm will disqualify anyone who looks like they’re cheating.
Sakurai also revealed two spooky characters. Gastly is a Pokemon and the Ghost shown here is a Yellow Ghost from Streetpass game Find Mii. The Gastly can be defeated with items, but you will need to grab the Yellow Ghost, or use Diddy Kong’s Monkey Flip. Otherwise, the Yellow Ghost’s guard will repel all attacks.
On Wednesday, we covered StreetSmash. You can read more about it here.
On Thursday, we saw the new and improved Fighter Records window. The UI has been remade to make it intuitive, and fun, to go through.
Today, Sakurai shared the first Wii U screenshots in a while, and they are good. Castle Siege and Colosseum were revealed as non-exclusive stages, meaning they will both be on the 3DS and Wii U versions.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS will be out in the US on October 3. The Wii U version will arrive later in the winter.
