Remember how yesterday I was praising Capcom for bringing North Americans a special edition of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, and I expressed disappointment that Nintendo wasn't doing the same for Hyrule Warriors? I can't say for certain if Nintendo heard my plea, but today the company announced the Hyrule Warriors Limited Edition for our fair country. But this news come with a major caveat: It'll only be available at the Nintendo World Store in New York.
That's not all! Nintendo knows that demand is high, so it won't allow pre-orders. If you want this thing, you'll have to show up at the store in person at 8:00 AM on September 26. For something so mind-blowingly scarce, you'd expect it to be packed with all the extras that the Japanese received. Instead, the only extra you'll get is Link's scarf.
On one hand, Nintendo doesn't play around when it comes to special editions. Whereas other companies produce an overabundance of supposedly "limited" kits — I can still remember the stacks of Halo 3 Legendary Editions at Best Buys for months after the game's release — Nintendo treats these as legitimate special events. On the other hand, this seems far too restrictive for not enough aditional incentive. Where's the Triforce clock, at least?
The standard Hyrule Warriors for Wii U can be picked up nationwide on September 26.
