North American Nintendo platforms have been getting the short end of the stick these days when it comes to special edition releases. Japan gets the Hyrule Warriors Treasure Box; we're lucky to win just Link's scarf in a raffle. Europe gets an ornate "First Print" version of Bayonetta 2; we aren't that fortunate. Thank the stars at least for Capcom, which has deemed us worthy to receive the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Collector's Edition.
Inside a blue package that resembles the in-game Supply Box is a copy of the game (of course!), a Monster Hunter lanyard, a Felyne pin that's part of an ongoing pin collection, a cleaning cloth, and a translucent statue of Gore Magala, the flagship monster for this latest adventure. All this for $59.99, a mere $20 more than the game alone.
The Collector's Edition is currently available for pre-order from GameStop, with further retailers to be announced later. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will smash onto 3DS in early 2015.
