GOG.com has always been kind of a big deal. As the main competitor to Steam, GOG.com has offered numerous classic games, as well as new titles (especially indies) for sale at prices lower than their counterpart, with a DRM-free catalogue of games.
Today, the company is turning the industry on its head once again with the introduction of DRM-free movies, available at $5.99, mostly focused on gaming and internet culture.
The new service has launched with two free movies so you can see how the DRM-free experience is better than any other. The service itself is kicking off with 20 documentaries about gaming and internet culture.
You’ll be able to stream and/or download the movies for a single price, instead of having to deal with the hassle of ‘renting’ and ‘buying’ as so many other services tend to offer. Just how the heck do you rent a digital movie, anyway?
In addition to the launch of their digital movie service, GOG.com has seen a site redesign that’s friendlier to mobile devices, with fair price packages available for applicable territories, as well as the ability to change currency. Not bad.
