There are new details about the set-up and premise of Halo 5: Guardians in the latest issue of the Halo comic book that is sure to enthrall hardcore fans of the series.
First things first—as anyone who’s played Halo 4 will know, the Forerunners were the main villains in Halo 4, lead by a figure known as the Didact. This gigantic alien was once the supreme commander of the entire Forerunner military, and leads what remains of his army against the UNSC. He attempted to wipe out all of humanity with a device known as the Composer.
A preview of a new Halo comic book, set in between the events of Halo 4 and Halo 5, shows the return of the Didact, who has managed to acquire not one—but six Composer devices.
For gamers who’ve only experienced the game series, some of these details can be incredibly obtuse and difficult to get into, requiring that you read the books, delve into the comics, and even follow up on the live-action web series to really get into what’s going on.
Needless to say, the villain whom everyone thought was dead in Halo 4 isn’t dead, and he has at his disposal the ability to wipe out humanity.
It’s hard to say what happens between the comic book and Halo 5: Guardians, given that we only have a preview out for it, but time will surely tell.
Halo 5: Guardians is set for release in 2015, exclusive to the Xbox One.
