Diablo 3’s title update 2.1.0 is out today, and it’s available for download as soon as you log into the battle.net servers to play the game—which remains offline at the moment while the game’s servers are undergoing maintenance.
In any case, title update 2.1.0 is a major patch that weighs in around 300mb and adds a host of changes and improvements to the game, many of which we have documented right here on Gameranx.
Most notable are the addition of Greater Rifts, formerly known as Tiered Rifts—they are a special type of Nephalem Rift that is designed to measure and showcase hero progression.
They feature a progress timer, unique rewards (including Legendary Gems), and custom leaderboards. They’re designed as the perfect opportunity for players to see how far they can push themselves in the game and glean some incredible loot along the way.
In addition to Greater Rifts, the game sees a lot of changes to its class abilities, all of which have been rebalanced for greater build variety. There’s also The Vault, which houses treasure goblins, and a boss called Baroness Greed; and Seasons, which are Diablo 3’s version of the ladder system loved by players of the previous game, Diablo 2.
Blizzard has announced that the first season is set to launch on Friday, August 29.
This update of the game is reserved to the PC and Mac version of the game, and only parts of it—such as the rebalanced class abilities—have made it to the newly released console version, titled the Ultimate Evil Edition.
