CreativeForge Games, the Polish developer of Ancient Space, launched a Kickstarter a short while back for a new project called Hard West. It's been described as an X-COM-esque strategy game, only with gunslingers and outlaws in the dusty desert. As of this writing, it's only a few thousand dollars away from its C$70,000 goal, and with 15 days left until the end of the fundraiser, there's no doubt that it will hit a few stretch goals too.
What sets Hard West apart from similar games is that battle encounters are a lot faster and more brutal. Instead of chipping away at health points, all it really takes is one clean shot to eliminate a target. You can create cover by flipping over tables and other objects in your way, and you can even pull off skill shots like ricocheting or curving your bullets.
Hard West is slated for an August 2015 release on Windows, but if the funding hits C$90,000, it'll come to OS X and Linux as well.
