The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: Gameplay, Gamescom Demo, And More

August 8, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

The first two Witcher games are still selling well, so what are the chances they’ll be ported to PS4 and Xbox One? You’d be surprised.

We have some new details for you regarding The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, fresh off of SDCC.

So, apparently the difficulty on the game is variable. Of course, taking one werewolf is different from taking three of them. Using the case of the werewolf, CD Projekt RED explains that the werewolf won’t be that strong, but will use their ability to call other wolves liberally. They have arranged it so that knowing the trick to taking a monster out will only make it a little easier.

They were asked about doing the thing every developer seems fond of nowadays; bringing their older games to Playstation 4 and Xbox One, in this case the original Witcher. Interestingly enough, CD Projekt RED is not thrilled with the idea. The team has not worked on the game in any way for twelve years now, and the sentiment seems to be that they prefer to move forward on this. Contrast this with Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft demonstrating a willingness to port considerably older games, such as Wind Waker, the Halo games, and Grim Fandango (No, not The Last Of Us, that was just a year ago, silly).

Now, it should also be noted that not only are they still proud of the first two Witcher games, both are still selling very well, across different platforms like Steam and Xbox. Thankfully, CD Projekt RED is focused on each current game they are working on.

One last thing; fans will finally get a look at some gameplay for The Witcher 3 at this upcoming Gamescom. It may be based on the same build they showed at SDCC, but at a different area.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is coming to Windows, Playstation 4, and Xbox One on February 24, 2015.
