Today we get another look at Romero's Supermarket, as it is being built for SOE's open world horror game, H1Z1. Again, this is still a work in progress, so if we do have any quibbles, it is with the hope the artists take notice and modify for the final product.
It really was not that long since we first got a look of Romero's Supermarket, so some details and touches have been added, but it still feels like it is missing a lot. What has been added in are some actual zombies and lighting effects.
The zombies are all presumably former supermarket staffers, considering they are all wearing the same uniforrm. To build up the mood, lighting effects have been added in so, that the supermarket is drenched in complete darkness and the zombies are apparently viewed with a central light.
All the shelves remain empty, and I don't care how long it has been, it would not make sense for an abandoned supermarket to not have anything inside it at all. If not actual food items and useful supplies, it should have more trappings of what a supermarket is supposed to have, like pushcarts, boxes, possibly abandoned goods, barcode price checkers, etc.
In any case, it is interesting to have an gaming artist keep fans up to date in this way and it should be interesting to see this shape up in time. H1Z1 will infect retailers for Windows and PS4 Fall 2014.
