Mortal Kombat X: Raiden’s Three Forms Revealed

August 5, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

Explore Raiden’s three combat forms in Mortal Kombat X.

Everyone’s favorite lightning god, Raiden, has been given a fresh new trailer that depicts him and his awesome powers in the upcoming fighting game from NetherRealm studios, Mortal Kombat X.

The new video from NetherRealm Studios shows off the three forms of the classic character Raiden, who uses three different combat styles: Thunder God, Displacer, and Storm Lord. The names aren’t too descriptive of his abilities, so let’s go over them one by one.

Thunder God is based on electrocution combos, Displacer emphasizes Raiden’s teleportation abilities, and Storm Lord allows Raiden to set lightning traps on the battle arena. Series co-creator Ed Boon explains how it all works out in the video:

Previous Mortal Kombat X footage showcased a duel to the death between series staples Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Watch that here. Keep in mind that it’s all CGI.

Earlier today, it was revealed that Kano be a part of the Mortal Kombat X roster.

Continuing the legacy of the franchise, Mortal Kombat X brings the adrenaline-pumping and extremely brutal action of the Mortal Kombat series to the new-gen platforms, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, where it’s set for release sometime in 2015. It’ll also be out for last-gen platforms as well as the PC.
