Super Smash Bros. 4: Comic-Con Footage Shows Mario’s Final Smash

July 30, 2014 by Tony Ponce

We also get to see the Assist Trophy for Kid Icarus: Uprising’s Magnus in action.

The new Super Smash Bros. was playable at San Diego Comic-Con, naturally, and GameXplain was on site to give it a proper test run. During their session, they chose Little Mac, Mario, Mega Man, and Zero Suit Samus to duke it out in the Boxing Ring stage.

At the 1:20 mark, Mario snatches the Smash Ball and unleashes his Final Smash — it's the Mario Finale, the same one from Brawl, in case you were expecting a new power. At the 1:48 mark, an Assist Trophy is cracked open and out pops Magnus, the beefy swordsman from Kid Icarus: Uprising, who hops around and swings his massive blade, knocking players clear out of the arena. To the best of my knowledge, we haven't seen Magnus in action yet, so this bit is pretty cool.

Even though this is off-screen footage, the game looks as phenomenal as ever. We'll finally get a chance to play Super Smash Bros. for Wii U in the comfort of our homes this winter. The 3DS version will arrive earlier on October 3.
