Oculus Rift may have the highlight of the show at San Diego Comic Con, as they have teamed with Legendary Pictures for what could be a selling point for the device: Pacific Rim: Jaeger Pilot.

Legendary tweeted that fans could visit their booth every day of the event, starting at 9 AM, to get a full hands-on experience of being a Jaeger Pilot and taking on a kaiju head-on. Unfortunately, there is no word on whether this will be made into a commercial release, but as it is now, this is certainly the kind of thing that would hit the big news.
Two fans posted their impressions of the experience, from Uproxx and Slashfilm respectively. The way the experience goes, once you’re strapped on to the Rift unit and sitting on a chair, is that you see yourself entering a Jaeger, talking to Raleigh Becket, and given a neural handshake. You take Mako’s role as Becket’s co-pilot, and off you to fight the big bad kaiju.
OK, so this is not really a full game. Actually, it’s not a game at all. You get to move your head around and look around the innards of the Jaeger, but you don’t actually move in sync with Becket yourself. The whole thing lasts three minutes, but I am sure people are loving it nonetheless.
If not a full game, Pacific Rim: Jaeger Pilot is a pretty good way to get attention for the Oculus Rift, and may lead to a game being made down the line. If you can head on to SDCC, we highly recommend you check this out.
