In June, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said that a number of highly anticipated features for the PS4 remain in development since the console’s initial announcement way back in 2013, although he couldn’t provide a timeframe for their release.
In addition to the upcoming 3D Blu-ray film support, one feature that is known to be in development is a resume and suspend feature, that essentially reduces lag time between players and their content. ”The time it takes today to boot a console and load a saved game will be a thing of the past," they said of the feature.
The PlayStation 4 isn’t the only console to offer 3D Blu-ray film support, as a the upcoming August update for the Xbox One will also be adding the feature.
