Naughty Dog's Nathan Drake and company will be arriving in cinemas on June 10th, 2016, Hollywood Reporter has revealed.
As part of Sony Pictures' bid to expand its presence in the lucrative superhero movie genre with The Sinister Six – an all-star cast of Spider-man villains – the company has moved the Amazing Spider-man 3 back to 2018 from 2016 and "will move Uncharted into the June 10, 2016, spot. The movie is an action-adventure based upon the top-selling PlayStation video game series, which follows the adventures of treasure hunter Nathan Drake. Seth Gordon will direct the film."
A cast for the movie has yet to be announced and the game will launch after Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, which is expected to release at some point in 2015, likely towards the end of the year if past games in the series are anything to go by.
Uncharted isn't the only Naughty Dog game to be getting the movie treatment, The Last of Us is also being adapted for the big screen and the plot of that movie will be based on the game though it's unclear whether the Uncharted movie will be based on any of the games in the franchise.
Games based on movies and movies based on games tend not to be particularly good but as we know little about the project, it's hard to say how it will turn out.
